Cream vs a Serum for the Face
Whether you choose a cream or a serum, it should depend upon what you are trying to remedy or maintain.
If you want a daily face cream, I personally do not advocate serums, because although they can feed a generous amount of nutrients and soften the skin, they fail to accomplish the primary task of a daily moisturizer, which is, yes to provide nutrients like a serum, but more importantly to provide moisture (not just soften) and just as important, it needs to protect the skin from the environment, which is done with butters like shea and cocoa butter.
Serums, being ointments by form, do not offer water for the skin to absorb. A cream offers many unique and repairing options that can not be duplicated in a serum. Some moisturizing options are aloe vera, floral waters, which are filled with skin beautifying constituents, leaf/flower water of rare wild plants or pure glacial water, to name a few. It is vital that a cream offers moisture to the skin because the skin needs to drink, just as much as it feeds.
Also inside a cream are butters, which seal the face, holding nutrient against the skin and acting as a band-aid to shield the skin from wind, pollutants, sun and cold. This protective coating is vital for those who have mature, sensitive, rosacea, eczema, acne or dry skin and a shield of butter may be necessary to relieve the condition.
We have many options suited to specific needs and I will go through each one and identify the benefits and who the cream would be best suited for.
HydraSalve (night cream) [click here]
As we age the body loses its ability to produce natural growth hormone for fast maintenance and regeneration of the cell. The result is dry, thin, wrinkled skin. To combat this a natural cell stimulant, such as pomegranate oil and shea butter, in combination with hydration and necessary skin nutrients, can be applied topically to help the functioning of the cell.
With vitamins A, B, C, D, E, amino acids, lecithin, beta carotene, essential fatty acids, punicic and cinnamic acids and anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, along with the hydrating power of aloe vera, this salve works to balance the skin’s pH, stimulate keratinocytes, the skin’s outer cells, to absorb moisture and nutrients and slough off dead cells through regeneration. This salve can be applied to eye lids and under the eye, as well as lips, hands and feet that are in need of hydration.
This night cream salve is good for everyone, regardless of age or skin condition, because it feeds and helps exfoliate and repair skin, which all ages need.
Rose Petal (day cream) [click here]
This lotion is the lightest day cream we make. With rose, chamomile, calendula, pomegranate and shea, it is specifically designed as an anti-wrinkle lotion for sensitive and rash prone skin.
Rose oil and rose water have outstanding properties that aid skin tissues. By maintaining the skin's pH balance and controlling excess oil, along with strong anti-inflammatory properties rose helps reduce the redness of irritated skin, swollen spots, acne, dermatitis or eczema caused by dermal irritation or excessive cleansing. Its calming properties help the skin to repair and settle down.
This cream is for healthy sensitive skin. This is not a cream for skin with irritations (see: Sea Buckthorn).
Sea Buckthorn (day cream) [click here]
Using a medicinal grade, cold pressed seed oil, in combination with highly nutritious oils and butters, this day cream is designed to feed the skin, heal and restore its vitality at the cellular level.
Fortified with crucially important nutrients for the maintenance of healthy skin, Vitamins A, B1, B2, C, E, K and P with Carotenes, Flavonoids, essential Fatty Acids, 2+ Dozen Microelements and Phytosterols, this cream is effective in relieving rosacea especially, but also eczema, acne, dermatitis, or irritated, dry, itchy skin. Sea Buckthorn is very helpful with gut related skin conditions.
This cream is perfect for anyone dealing with rosacea and other skin irritations.
Argan Primrose (day cream) [click here]
This day cream absorbs quickly and is effective against hormonal acne, dark spots, inflammation, rashes, swelling, soreness, infections and cellular damage from aging and sun exposure.
Argan and Evening Primrose are both high in Vitamin E, GLA (gamma-linoleic acid), Omega 6, antioxidants, triterpenoids, and a cascade of vitamins and minerals. These nutrients dilute sebum (oily substance that is oversecreted with acne), reduce the risk of pores clogging and lesions developing. It’s shown to control the cells' use of nutrients and produces prostaglandins, which stimulate the contraction of blood vessels. This is known to speed up healing, soothe damaged, itchy red skin, improve elasticity, balance hormonal fluctuations and reduce melanin production leaving your skin clear, bright and nourished.
This cream is perfect for young and mature skin and anyone dealing with acne.
Arnica Argon (day cream) [click here]
This luxurious day cream is a medicated sulphur lotion. Sulfur is present in all living tissue. It is the third most abundant mineral in the body and is needed to build and fix DNA, protect cells from damage that can lead to serious diseases such as cancer, kill bacteria that causes acne and promote the shedding of dead skin.
Arnica and Argon have been added to support the maintenance properties of the sulfur by protecting sensitive skin from sun damage, to offer deep moisturization, treat acne, dermatitis and a number of skin conditions and boost circulation to speed up the healing process.
This cream is excellent for slow healing, acne prone skin or as an anti-aging lotion for mature skin.
