Adrenal Fatigue: PART 2

If you believe you are suffering from Adrenal Fatigue or you live a stressful lifestyle, making changes that strengthen your constitution and repair your gut will help you cope with stress, live longer and healthier and you will feel energized.

Steps to Recovery:

  1. DO NOT do a Fast of any kind. You can only safely Fast when you have functioning adrenals. This could be very dangerous.
  2. Stop eating processed, baked and junk foods. They are NOT food and our wheat is not the same grain we developed on and we can’t tolerate it. It actually causes stress.
  3. Buy Bile, Enzyme and probiotics to take with food. You will need them to help you digest the right kinds of foods you need to get strong and repair your adrenals and colon.

  1. Eat organic and grass-fed food and the right kinds. Consume less than 60 carbs a day (no fruit, sugar, grains or starches-potatoes/corn etc. They burn you out!). Eat roughly 6 ounces of protein (about 3 eggs) a day along with about 2-3 TBSPs of animal fat, so don’t trim your meat, save and cook with drippings and don’t buy lean beef if you have the option. If you are not eating carbs this fat will give you your energy. Inside animal fat is all your fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E. K1, K2) for making hormones, especially stress hormones. Avoid chicken and turkey, because they are too lean and are very low in fat-soluble vitamins that are found in the fat. Nuts are also important, but you shouldn’t consume more than ¼ cup a day, because they are almost pure non-animal fat, which can cause you to put on weight.
  2. Eat 7 cups of non-starchy vegetables a day. This will give your adrenals the chemicals that they need to function and potassium is one of the strongest anti-anxiety remedies you can use to correct the psychological symptoms associated with Adrenal Fatigue. Even pharmaceuticals can’t beat the successes of potassium.
  3. Take magnesium in the topical form to soften muscles and nerves and facilitate proper gut activity.

  1. Avoid caffeine, drugs and alcohol.
  2. Exercise daily with low impact activities such as walking. This charges your adrenals, just like a battery and won’t tire you out.
  3. Make sure you’re drinking enough water, but don’t water-log yourself, because you will flush out all your electrolytes, which you are likely low on. Your non-starchy vegetables and protein will quickly replenish your electrolytes.
  4. Make sure you're getting enough salt. This is important when you lower your carbs to 60 a day. You will need 3x the salt of a carbohydrate eater to burn fat, speed-up your brain and balance the liquid in your body.
  5. Stop smoking. This is a hard one and very, very stressful and that’s why it’s almost last. You should feel much better by #12 and now would be the time to quit.
  6. Get enough sleep and this will be easier if you do 1-12 of this list.

Tips for Success:

  1. Start with #1 and work your way to #13, which will take care of itself. Do not rush your recovery or you will just stress yourself out and burn yourself out further and get nowhere.
  2. The bile, probiotics and enzymes are extremely important to repair the gut and not do any further damage.
  3. Start with eating simple, whole foods like eggs, bacon and salads to make meal prep easier and to guarantee that you get a nutrient dense diet. As you begin to feel better you will naturally begin to expand your diet, but at first simple is best. Buy a Keto cookbook for ideas, or go online.
  4. Tackle each step with conviction and you will get better. If you need further help, make an appointment to meet with our herbalist (250-594-3332) to set up a plan for your recovery.
